  1. Hello there,

Christopher James Thornhill was the son of my Great Aunt Emma Pownell Thornhill nee Thackwray … and he was the young rebel & black sheep of the family running away in 1912 aged just 18 from the family farm in Rhodesia … so I am looking for a photo or portrait of him for our family records … so any information and news would be wonderful?

Did this ROMANCE OF THE RIFT have a printed cover or any illustrations?

“Thornhill, Christopher J.”, ROMANCE OF THE RIFT, Stanley Paul & Co., London, 1930s, 5 x 7.5, 319, Orig. orange cloth, “spine slightly faded, eps and half title darkened, O/W V. Good”, Ref 7020, £30.00

    Kind regards
    Warren Thackwray

    1. Dear Warren,
Sorry for the really slow reply, this message slipped into some deep dark corner of the computer!
Sorry no photo, If he had found one, I am sure my husband would have put it on his record.
Did you check his entry on the database. http://www.europeansineastafrica.co.uk
Romance of the rift, and From Hobo to Canibal King are both still available.

the reference on the database from Over my Shoulder, came from a book by Molly Ryan about her time farming in Molo. I checked no photo there either.

Wish I could be more helpful.
      Caro Ayre.
