I also found these gems flowering in the garden in the first week of the year. Not a bad selection considering the wet weather we have experienced here in the south west of England. I hope they will cope with the expected cold snap that is forcast. The beauty of the mahonia, and sarcococca are in the scent that they have. Some of the tiny flowers that come out at this time of the year are more rewarding to the nostrils than some of the showy offerings later on.
There is an added bonus in the picture above of a flowering white geranium(pelargonium) in the hanging basket. I have taken it away now to put in a sheltered spot in the hope of saving it from the expected cold winds.
I am saving Snow drops and Aconite pictures for next week, when they will be in abundance.
